It's Official, Tranquilo is For Sale

It is with mixed emotions that we put Tranquilo II up for sale. 

As long as we're here, we might as well enjoy it! It's hot, rainy and humid back in Florida, and 117 in Arizona, so we are glad to be here. The weather is lovely, and you can't beat the scenery.

Another fun Thursday night, this week at the Voyageur in St. Clair.

I spent the weekend in Traverse City with my friend, Kay. She took me up to Charlevoix. What a beautiful town.

Today Robbie and I did some exploring, driving up the "thumb" of Michigan.

Stopped to look at the bridge to Canada from Pine Grove Park in Port Huron on the way home. Robbie used to swim here when he was a kid.

Monday night, June 19th, this big storm rolled in. This is not something you like to see when you're on a boat! All it did was rain, thank goodness!

Back on the Boat

On June 3, 2017, we took Tranquilo out of storage, and moved her back to the marina where we had her last summer. We are adjusting to life on the boat, and being back in Michigan.

We have arrived!

We rejoined the weekly meeting of the class of 1964.

We took the boat out for a ride on the St. Clair River.

We often bike to Palmer Park to look at the beautiful river, and use the great bike trails.

Last week we took a ferry over to Harsen's Island and spotted this family of swans.

The ferries run back and forth all day.

On June 5th we had dinner at Rix on the Roof to celebrate Robbie's birthday, then went to the Raven Cafe for coffee.

This day we drove into Ontario, Canada and went to Grand Bend for lunch. Grand Bend is on Lake Huron.

Went to a car show in Marysville. This was my favorite, it's a Wills St Clair, made here Marysville, Michigan in 1926.

On June 8th, our 21st anniversary, we went to the River Crab and had dinner with the Class of 1964.

Done For Now

Sunday, August 21st, there was the annual "Float Down", thousands of people get in the St. Clair River in rafts, kayaks, etc, no motors allowed, and let the current take them down the river.

That is Canada on the right side.

There were strong West winds, which blew 1500 of them to Canada. The paper said the Canadians set up a temporary refugee camp to process them all before they sent them back across to the US!
We went to the Moose Lodge to watch. It looked like tons of fun!

The Moose Lodge had a live band, and a place for the floaters to get out.

Monday, August 22nd, we moved the rest of our things off of the boat, and cruised down the Pine River to Rivers Bend Marina.

They took the boat out of the water, power washed it, filled all the tanks with anti-freeze, and put it in a barn for the winter. We will come back next Spring and take her out of storage.

Heading home tomorrow! It will take us about two days to drive. I think we are finally done with this adventure for the year.

Enjoying Michigan

We are still enjoying Michigan, still getting together with Robbie's old friends who go to Happy Hour every Friday.

The girls are watching us pack, but are not too concerned.

Last weekend, I drove up to Traverse City to see my friend, Kay. What a beautiful part of the state.

Some gorgeous homes in Traverse City, this one is now a funeral home. Supposedly it has tunnels that go under the street.

We went up to the top of a hotel in Traverse City and had dinner. Not a bad view.

Back in St. Clair, we had a rain storm, looked pretty threatening, but it wasn't too bad. This area got some much needed rain.

Yikes!

Thursday we drove to Capac to see Robbie's cousins, Doug and Izzy, who he had not seen in many, many years. They are almost 90, and are still farming and building race cars!

Thursdays is Rockin' on the River, a free concert beside the St. Clair River. Robbie is talking to Al, his oldest friend.
This week it was a Journey tribute band. About 500 people at least.
