After walking around Cape May, and taking more shots of the incredible homes and hotels, we had dinner with two couples we met in Delaware Bay. Even though we are staying in different marinas, we ran into one couple at the grocery store, and the other on the street, they were on bikes. Lynn and Wayne, from Minnesota, Liz and Steve from Austin, Texas.
The winds finally died down, a bit, so we could leave Cape May. We ventured into the New Jersey Intercoastal Waterway, which is not the route most Loopers take. We have received many warnings about this route, most Loopers take the "outside" at this point. (open ocean) The harbor host for this area assured us it was passable, but only at high tide. So, we left a couple hours after low tide, noon, and had to watch our depth gauges the entire way. We saw 2.9 feet at the lowest, 45 feet at the highest point. We made it to Ocean City in about 4 1/2 hours, (35 miles) between watching the depths, and many "No Wake" zones, so we had to go really slow.

There are such pretty old homes here. |
This is an old hotel across from the beach. |

Condos everywhere. |
Some of these areas really didn't look like they could be deep enough. |
This is from our slip in Ocean City. I can't remember ever seeing clouds like this. |
Sunset tonight over Great Egg Harbor Bay, New Jersey. |
This post made it seem like it was a job navigating in that shallow water - wow!
