Port Austin, Harrisville, Presque Isle

Saturday was still a wild day in Port Austin. The water from Lake Huron was breaking over the sea wall, and the wind was howling. After two days, it got pretty tiring.

Saturday night it calmed down, and we had a little party.

Cindy works at the marina and has done half the Loop, Larry has done the Loop FIVE TIMES.

The party grew. Roger (on Robbie's left), is doing the Loop on a sailboat, John, (far right) is doing the Loop, on a sailboat, by himself! They are both going clockwise, so they are headed in a different direction than we are.

Sunday, August 7th, we finally were able to leave Port Austin, and headed for Harrisville. It was an easy ride.

As soon as we got tied up, this rolled in.

Two rounds of rain rolled through.

This little swallow sat here with his head up for the longest time. I think he was taking a nice shower.
Monday we left in questionable winds, coming right at us. It was a little rough.
2-5 ft. waves today, and they were breaking over the bow.  If we had cats on board, this would have been a nightmare day. But without them, no big deal.
We made it to Presque Isle, where there is a grocery store and a restaurant with the only WiFi, where I am writing this while I eat my dinner. This area specializes in Whitefish, really delicious.

There's a trail where you can walk along the lake in the woods.

This lighthouse was built in 1840.

Love these sea walls, especially when there isn't water crashing over them.

Cheboygan tomorrow!
