Punta Gorda to Fort Myers

Monday, March 7th, last day in Punta Gorda, Robbie and Bob took electric bikes to West Marine, I found a great boutique, and Patrick went fishing in the dingy. We met more Loopers from Mississippi, a former Immigration Customs Enforcement officer, who named his boat, Over ICE.

Tuesday, March 8th, we headed for Fort Myers. It started out smooth, with dolphins jumping alongside Bob and Barbara's boat in front of us. It was so wonderful, they were jumping completely out of the water. We radioed them, and they were able to get some great pictures.

After that, it started getting rough. Between the wind, chop, and a steady stream of boats coming from the other direction, it was pretty rocky. It looked like a freeway. Many of them were the same kind of boat, we decided they were headed for a boat show. Every time a boat passes us in either direction, the wake rocks us. It was a long 6 hours. We are safe and secure at Salty Sam's Marina in Fort Myers Beach now, and plan to stay here for over a week, while Patrick heads to Key West.

A ferry on the boat freeway.

Another from the boat parade.

Coming into Fort Myers.

Coming into the marina, watching Bob dock his boat in the wind.

Pelicans waiting for the fisherman's leftovers at our marina.

Exploring the marina area.

Robbie and Patrick went out and found fresh shrimp, scallops and Key Lime Pie for dinner tonight! Patrick cooked the shrimp, and I cooked the scallops, Bob and Barbara joined us and we had a wonderful meal.
