Touring Savannah

Monday May 2, 2016, began like this.

Then we said goodbye to Brenda and Scott, and hope to see them again up the road.
Later we took an Uber cab to downtown Savannah. I had never been there. We took a trolley tour, and walked all over. I see what all the fuss is about, what a lovely place!

Every building was beautiful, I couldn't photograph all of them, but I wanted to.

City Hall

The Cotton Exchange, where they determined the cotton prices. This was one of two in the world.

Colonial Park Cemetery

Cathedral of St. John the Baptist

Mercer-Williams House

Forsyth Fountain in Forsyth Park

Monument to the Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War

We counted 21 squares like this one, scattered all over the city. Many have monuments in the middle.

This street was made with ballast stones. The ships carried stones when they were empty to keep them stable. Then they would unload them, and load up with goods and go back home.

After we got home, a boat exactly like ours docked behind us. We met Steve, Cathleen and Peggy from Houston, and had drinks and appetizers on our boat. They are also Loopers. Our boats are the same model, a year a part.

It was a good day! Tomorrow we will head for Beaufort, South Carolina.
